My name is Chris Amaddeo, I’m 15 and I live in Canada. I am very lucky to be participating in a Hero Holiday taking place August 6-15, 2014. Hero Holiday is a humanitarian trip to Mexico where we will be immersing ourselves in the local community and building new homes for families living in extreme poverty.
This program provides youth an opportunity to change their lives by meeting the needs of others who live in poverty. Throughout the year, Live Different provides opportunities for high school students to volunteer in humanitarian relief projects by bringing practical assistance to those living in extreme poverty. Activities may include building homes, distributing supplies, providing food, mobile medical clinics and working with children at risk. This program allows them to see first-hand how two-thirds of the world lives, expands their world view and gives them an opportunity to become educators on world poverty by sharing their experiences.
As you can imagine, the cost of such a trip is quite high. The trip alone is $1400 and airfare is an additional $600. I have been trying to raise as much of this required $2000. In addition to the cost of this trip, any additional money raised will be used towards furniture, appliances and paint for the houses, or other necessities that we may need on our trip.
Please consider making a donation that will support me in my efforts to bring love, hope and change to these deserving families. You can make a donation online by using credit card, debit and PayPal here. Another way to support me is by reblogging this post to spread the word and empower others to take action and help the people living in extreme poverty.
Thank you for your time and have a great day.
